Welcome to our next IATSO Conference in COPENHAGEN, Denmark
September 7-10, 2016 at Rigshospitalet, University Hospital of Copenhagen
Desistance from Sexual Offending –
About Treatment and Other Effective Approaches
Local Host and Conference President: Ellids Kristensen, Copenhagen University
Treatment of people who have committed sexual offences has evolved in the past decades and is now an opportunity voluntary or compulsory, in many countries. Over the years the ways of treatment have evolved and have been investigated in many studies that show an increasing, although modest, effect of treatment. We still need to know more about what kind of treatment works with the different types of offenders, especially in relation to treatment of individuals returned to the community. We need to know how we can integrate people into the community, although there is a growing tendency in society to marginalize and demonize sexual offenders.
Therefore, we invite you to take time for the IATSO conference in Copenhagen, 2016.
The scientific program of the conference will discuss the recent developments, dynamics and diversities of current worldwide research on aspects of sexual offender assessment and treatment, which are of major importance for both academia and society. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to meet and network with colleagues from around the world.
The chosen spotlight of the congress is “Desistance from Sexual Offending – About Treatment and Other Effective Approaches”. Only by a professional perspective based on high quality research can we continue to bring further improvements into the field. A high quality program is planned with internationally recognized key experts in the field delivering plenary and symposia lectures.
We look forward to seeing you in Copenhagen and invite you to submit your proposals for oral or poster presentations.
